  • Box of Shadows – Trailer

Posted on March 12th, 2010 Chris No comments

Pulled this off their official website… A different kind of movie. It sounds pretty cool:

BOX OF SHADOWS, centers around a group of college friends, who discover a 15th century coffin that allows them to experience the world as ghosts. While their first adventures in the spirit world are playful and innocent, the “Box of Shadows” soon brings out the group’s most dangerous impulses and desires. The friends find themselves pulled into a world of evil where they learn the line between life and death is there for a reason.

Yeah… I’m there. Release scheduled for July 2, 2010. I think I need to start a “wish list” of movies that I want to see… gets a bit rough keeping track. By the way, don’t forget to check out my movie activity log every once in a while (accessible at the top of the sidebar).

  • Sharktopus withdrawal? SyFy has something to help…

Posted on March 4th, 2010 Chris 1 comment

Some of you may have recalled my article on Sharktopus. And some of you may find it difficult to wait for this film to arrive (like myself). Well… fear not. Roger Corman has something to tide you over.

Mark your calendars: March 13 for Dinoshark!

I just wish that SyFy would do this more often on the weeknights, and not the Wrestling or Wisps-of-air…er…Ghost Hunters. At least they have all day movies on the weekends, even if they are not always available to me…

BTW… love the Jaws reference: “Think we’re going to need a bigger chopper…” (two-fold!)

  • Vampire Slayers in History

Posted on March 4th, 2010 Chris No comments

You know, Buffy isn’t the only vampire slayer out there. She’s not even real! But did you know that Abraham Lincoln was, secretly, a vampire slayer? Yep. While writing para-phrases for the Emancipation Proclamation, he was driving stakes into the blood sucking vile beasts!

No… I have not lost it. But in all seriousness, Seth Grahame-Smith, who brought us Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an parody(?) of Jane Austen’s classic, has just released Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. How awesome is that?

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation.

To help promote the book, a trailer was made. Just more awesomeness. No, really! How ofter to you hear a “theatrical” trailer made for a book. You need to check it out!

I don’t know about you… but after seeing this, I caught myself thinking “This would even be more awesome if they actually made a real movie out of this!”

And, then, low and behold…. someone felt the same awesomeness and I did!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there is going to be a film adaptation of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. And we’re not talking about some no name people here… Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov are getting together on this! Most likely producing, and not directing… but still, it promises to be some “awesome” entertainment…

  • Zombie Porn

Posted on February 27th, 2010 Chris No comments

Dawna of the DeadGot your attention, right? Yeah, well this is no joke. Two of the my favorite things have finally merged to create, what will probably be, one of the best zombie films ever. OK… I’m exaggerating a bit. But really… like chocolate and peanut butter, what male, in his not-so-right mind, can not resist zombies and porn? And now, someone took the time to combine them into, what I’m sure to be, a masterpiece of a film! Come on… look at what others are saying…

“DAWNA OF THE DEAD is so wrong on so many levels, that it actually achieves high art in cinema. Plus, there is simply nothing sexier than something you shouldn’t be seeing.” – Dave Navarro

“The DAWNA OF THE DEAD trailer is obscene, disgusting and just plain wrong… So naturally we are now dying to see the whole film!” -DIGITAL RETRIBUTION

In all seriousness, who ever did take the time to make this film was obviously a big zombie aficionado. The costumes and make-up are above par for your typical porn flick. Hell… they are worthy of most the zombies films out there, past and present!

Check it out the Website, but:

**Warning #1: NSFW (that means “Not suitable/safe for work”… don’t be stupid).

**Warning #2: If you are offended by any kind of sexually content, pornographic material, blah, blah, blah…. don’t bother.

    Official Website

Screw that! Just take me straight to the TRAILER!

  • Time to get Primal

Picked this one off from FearNet. It looks pretty awesome. But, for the life of me, I can’t find out when and where it will be released (and in what form). This trailer did premier at last year’s Cannes festival. And I did find out that it will be presented at the European Film Market festival in February. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how well it does there for final distribution.

Find out more at primalthemovie.com (you’ll find an alternate trailer there, too).

  • 24 Hour Horror Fest

Posted on August 25th, 2009 Chris 2 comments

exhumed_01_01Exhumed Films is holding their 3rd annual 24 Horror Fest on October 24-25, 2009.  It is exactly as it sounds… 24 hours of non-stop horror movies presented on the big screen. Oh yeah, there will be some vintage trailers in between.

I didn’t get to go to last years, but I was aware of it. This year, I’m making the plunge and bought a ticket. Those of you who are interested, here is a list of the movies played last year. Last year they had an extra hour because of daylight savings… so technically it was 25 hours!

    • The Fog25-hour
    • Destroy All Monsters
    • Phantasm 2
    • Wicked Wicked
    • Nightmare on Elm Street
    • The Incredible Shrinking Man
    • The Boogey Man
    • Fright Night
    • Dead and Buried
    • Island of the Damned
    • Equinox
    • Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
    • Food of the Gods
    • Return of Living Dead

Traditional to the last two events, the current movie list for this year is a mystery, all in the nature of the big surprise. Last weekend at the Jeff Lieberman Double Feature, the group promised a more diverse range of films to include more rarities, as well as your typical horror films. I think it will be the best festival yet.

If you are interested, I urge you to buy your tickets soon… as of last weekend, the show has sold 1/3 of the seats, and it’s still August. Go online and buy your tickets.

  • Good afternoon. Are you in need of any assistance today, sir?

“By tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn’t alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip.”

Pixar’s latest looks awesome. And, as always, it will be a sure win. These guys know how to write a good story, and I just love the 3D graphics (makes for good eye-candy).

  • There’s something wrong with Esther.

“After their unborn baby dies, Kate and John Coleman decide to adopt a child as a hopeful way to bring some joy and normalcy into their lives. Enter the seemingly perfect Esther, who’s angelic facade might mask sinister intentions.”

    Oh, yeah…. creepy.

  • Come with me if you want to live…

Posted on May 20th, 2009 Chris No comments

I will not be seeing this tonight, at the midnight showing, as originally planned. A shame… I recall seeing T2 at a midnight showing. First time I ever did that.

Never-the-less, I found a cool 4 minute trailer that has kept my interest peeked, regardless of the 37% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Good thing is, I’m not really expecting “ground breaking” story telling here. I’m just looking forward to seeing those T-800′s in action.

  • We just want to go home…

Oh yeah, this one is going to be awesome…

“An extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth suddenly find a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology.”

Oh, and this trailer has subtitles and no blur during the alien interrogation (not initially seen when first presented before Wolverine).
